The Encyclopedia of Library and Information Sciences is the 3rd edition (1st ed. and 2nd ed.) of the well-known and established encyclopedia in the fields of librarianship and information sciences, as well as of archival science, museology, publishing, and more. The Encyclopedia contains 565 entries, with more than 400 newly written. It covers the following topic categories: disciplines in the framework of librarianship and information sciences, theories and models, areas of research, institutions, systems and networks, documents and publications, activities and services by disciplines, users, national institutions, and history. Entries treating a similar topic are connected via the Topical Table of Contents. All entries contain numerous citations of articles. Full texts of individual cited articles are either freely accessible on the net or accessible in the collections of various providers such as JSTOR, EMERALD, EBSCO, ScienceDirect, Springer, and more via the OpenURL linker.
The electronic encyklopedia is accessible at the InformaWorld platform (by the Taylor & Francis publisher). Entries appear in alphabetical order but can also be arranged by authors of articles and publishing date. You can search by full-text, entry, author, etc. Search results are arranged by relevance.
Articles can be displayed in the HTML and PDF format. References on articles can be added to the selected articles list or directly exported to individual reference management tools (ProCite, EndNote, RefManager, RefWorks); references can also be directly displayed in individual citation formats (MLA, APA, etc.).
